London Hotels: Bayswater

Bayswater is a central area of London which can be found immediately north of Hyde Park. The majority of Bayswater hotels are 3 star and because there are so many, room prices tend to be competitive and it is therefore possible to get a good deal.

Within the area of Bayswater itself there is very little in the way of attractions, however because of its central location you have easy access on foot to the West End, Paddington, Notting Hill and Mayfair. A stroll across Hyde Park will get you to Kensington within 15 minutes and here you have some world class museums, Harrods and the Royal Albert Hall. Hyde Park itself has much to offer the tourist with Kensington Palace, the Italian Gardens and the Serpentine lake.

Transport links are excellent from Bayswater tube or Queensway tube. The Central underground line will convey you right through central London. The neighbouring Paddington Station is also the central London boarding point for the Heathrow Express which offers a 16 minute high speed train journey to all 5 London Heathrow Airport terminals.

More upmarket Bayswater hotels include the Lancaster Hotel (Formerly the Royal Lancaster) which overlooks Hyde Park from its location at Lancaster Gate. If you are on a budget then check out the hundred or so cheap Bayswater hotels on Sussex Gardens which is convenient for Paddington and Marylebone but be warned, this particular street in Bayswater does have an issue with ladies of the night, something the police are trying to clear up.

Due to Bayswater being a quite upmarket residential area, there is an excellent array of restaurants and bars to suit all tastes and budgets and no matter where you stay, you will not have to walk very far to find something suitable.
