London Hotels: TheatrelandLondon has a generous amount of theatres staging all types of shows, musicals, plays, recitals and even the odd intimate gig by pop-stars or pop-groups. Londons Theatreland as it is commonly known is located in the central zone 1 area, reaching from Tottenham Court Road, through Soho, Shaftesbury Avenue, Leicester Square and onwards into the Covent Garden area. Hotels are abundant in Londons main theatre area, covering all types and styles. From the small trendy boutique style hotels such as No.5, the grand 5 star options as in the newly renovated Savoy Hotel, not forgetting the popular upmarket contemporary hotels such as the Kingsway Hall. A very popular Covent Garden Hotel for theatre-goers is the Strand Palace, again this hotel was recently renovated and carries a 4 star rating. Out towards Tottenham Court Road you have the bustling and popular St.Giles Hotel, great if you drive into London and need car parking or require a hotel with a pool, the St.Giles boasts one of London's largest indoor pools. Most of Londons theatres have been running shows for well over a century. In fact the famous London Palladium Theatre celebrated it's centenary on 26th December 2010. Some theatres even starting their life as early as the 1500's. It seems our quest for entertainment and drama has been a strong force in our minds since time immemorial. Covent Garden is well known for it's choice of theatres and shows. The Adelphi Theatre, The Strand Theatre, The Theatre Royal Drury Lane, The Aldwych Theatre, the stunning Royal Opera House, these are just a few of the many lovely old theatres / concert halls scattered around this area. Shows are varied, however it is the musicals that attract the crowds. They have proved extremely popular, some run for months and months. The Lion King is one such show which attracts crowds day in day out. Transportation is very easy within this area with the underground serving stations in Covent Garden, Leicester Square, Piccadilly, Oxford Circus, Bond Street and Tottenham Court Road.
